DMC reboot: my response

Like most fans of Devil May Cry (DMC) series, when Ninja Theory announced Devil May Cry the reboot, I said WTF.

Chill, this is not a hater post. Let me finish. You gotta read the conclusion. hehe

First I will explain why the WTF.

I think DMC 4 is a true masterpiece. We got Nero with his Devil Hand that can do heavy (and super cool) attacks to even gigantic demons, making them look ridiculous. That Hand is also capable of sucking power from bosses to improve its abilities. That's a whole new concept, a super cool addition to Dante's concept of getting weapons from defeating bosses with chain of unending combos. Who knows where Capcom can lead us from there. And then they decided to reboot it. There goes the WTF.

But then, I saw the video interview where Ninja Theory crew talks about their newest reboot project. I feel that those people are not so much different than me, with families, wives and kids perhaps, ideas, and of course, dreams. They are just trying to make a creative work in form of a reboot of DMC games. They think their idea is going to be fun and fresh for the series. It's a pity if everyone says WTF to their idea before actually seeing the resulting game.

So I came to my conclusion that I will give them a chance. I won't judge before seeing the result of their work. If the game is good, I'll praise. If it's awful, I'll probably curse.

Even if after the game is released and fans tried the demo, everyone curses Ninja Theory, well at least they've got their chance. They know the risk and they put the challenge on themselves (working without challenge will put anyone to sleep anyway). So that's fair.

So I say good luck to Ninja Theory with their reboot. In fact I'll write some suggestions about it. But if in the end they fail to bring the good of previous series to the reboot, the protagonist not as cool as the previous, and the gameplay not as fantastic as the previous, I'd be most definitely cursing them. Yeah. haha
